What we achieved together in 2025.

Message from KKLT Founder

Happy New Year Dear Reader,

I want to wish all our volunteers, supporters, donors, and partners a very Happy New Year. Thank you for your continued support and for standing with us every step of the way.

Together, we continued to push forward our mission to raise awareness and grow the lifesaving stem cell donor registry. Because of your dedication, kindness, and belief in our work, 2025 became a year of meaningful progress and renewed hope.

From my heart, thank you for helping us change lives and give families a fighting chance.

Veronica Kararwa.

2025 in Review:

We hosted our 10th year anniversary dinner bringing together more than 150 guests for an unforgettable evening. As a volunteer-led organisation, this milestone showcases the remarkable commitment and hard work of our incredible team. The night included live entertainment, a delicious three-course meal, and powerful speeches from those who have been supported by KKLT. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors and attendees for making this event such a success and for helping raise the essential funds that move us closer to our mission of saving lives. Together, we stand with those facing leukaemia and other blood cancers, giving them hope, strength, and the chance to live full and meaningful lives. This united effort is what brings us closer to a future without leukaemia.

We were nominated for an award!

Expanded our Outreach Programme

Last year, we worked tirelessly to ensure more people understood leukaemia, treatment realities, and the lifesaving power of stem cell donation.

As part of the KKLT Outreach Programme, our team has been actively present at community events across the year, including Kenya in the Park in London and Reading, where we successfully registered dozens of new potential stem cell donors. We also engaged at the KISE Event and with the Ugandan Nurses and Midwives Association UK, where a further 20 people joined the register.

Every registration matters. Any one of these individuals through a simple cheek swab could one day be the match that saves a life

Delivered Emotional Wellbeing

We’re proud to have delivered vital emotional wellbeing groups, provided food vouchers, and built a growing community so that people affected by blood cancer don’t have to face their journey alone. Through our year-long emotional wellbeing support programmes, offering practical and mental health support sessions, peer connection opportunities, carer activities, and awareness and education events. We’ve helped reduce isolation and strengthen resilience for individuals and families impacted by leukaemia, sickle cell, and other blood disorders.

We’re also grateful to collaborate with incredible organisations that share our vision, including Blood Cancer UK, Leukaemia Care, and clinical partners like St Helier Hospital, to expand the reach and impact of our support.

If you or someone you know could benefit from KKLT’s support services, please get in touch here, we’d love to help.

Expanded Youth Programme: “Discover You”

In 2025, We delivered an empowering youth initiative designed to support young adults (aged 18–25) in personal development, purpose, and leadership.

The Discover You Youth Programme focused on building confidence, emotional intelligence, and clarity of life direction. helping participants unlock their potential and grow into future ambassadors for positive change.

Programme Goals

  • Help young people become the best version of themselves

  • Encourage focus on meaningful life goals

  • Foster appreciation for noble actions, including lifesaving awareness and community engagement

  • Inspire personal success and leadership in broader society and within KKLT’s mission

We also take this moment to honour Shallama Wairimu who sadly passed away; she gave generously of herself in service to others; through her dedicated volunteer work with the Kevin Kararwa Leukaemia Trust, she touched lives and brought hope to families facing their most difficult moments.

While we mourn her passing, we celebrate a life that show how much one person can accomplish when they choose to care. Her legacy lives on in every family she supported and every moment she dedicated to this vital cause.

Together, We Made a Difference

Every registration, every donation, and every conversation helped reduce barriers to lifesaving treatment. Because of you, more families found support, more young people became advocates, and more potential donors took the first step toward saving a life.
