Emotional and Moral Support: A Key to Healing

Emotional support is essential in helping individuals through challenging times, ensuring they feel supported, heard, and loved. During the COVID-19 outbreak, we recognized that leukaemia patients were facing heightened isolation and loneliness due to strict shielding measures necessary for their safety, given their suppressed immune systems from treatment. These measures often left them feeling more isolated than the general population, significantly impacting their emotional and physical well-being.

To address this, we began hosting regular emotional well-being sessions via Zoom, which quickly became popular and highly beneficial. These sessions continue to be held regularly, offering vital support to help combat loneliness and enhance mental and emotional well-being. Participants have the opportunity to share experiences, build resilience, and learn from one another and professionals. Topics covered include mental well-being, stress management, nutrition, pain management, overcoming loneliness, and coping with bereavement, among others. Feedback from our beneficiaries has been overwhelmingly positive.

In addition to emotional support, we provide food vouchers to those experiencing financial difficulties and other physical support for individuals unable to leave their homes.

Registration and Awareness Drives: Our Passion

Our passion lies in raising awareness about leukaemia and stem cell donation, particularly within BAME communities (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic). We are dedicated to educating and providing essential information to encourage members of these communities to join the UK stem-cell registry. Our goal is to increase the number of registered donors, thereby enhancing the chances of saving lives.

So far, we have successfully registered 4,000 individuals and aim to triple this number within the next three years.

Food Bank

Since 2020, our food bank has been a lifeline for leukaemia patients and their families. We provide food parcels and medication deliveries, ensuring that those in need receive essential support. Additionally, we offer food vouchers, giving patients the freedom to choose the essentials they need or the food they prefer. To date, our food program has benefited 25 households.

Youth Programme

“We cannot always build the future for our Youth but we can build our Youth for the Future.” — Franklin Roosevelt

Funded by Big Lottery, our youth programme is designed to support young people through transitions and address behavioural and emotional challenges that affect their personal and professional interactions and success in life.

This 6-step group programme guides 6 to 16 participants through a transformative journey focused on inner change. Participants learn research-based and practical methods to uncover and understand the root causes of negative emotions, shift their perspectives on challenging experiences, and take practical steps towards self-acceptance. They will identify what truly matters to them, build a personal brand, master their emotions, see the world differently, and harness the power of their minds.

The goal is to help young people develop into the best versions of themselves, focus on what truly matters in life, understand the importance of noble actions like saving lives, achieve personal success, and inspire them to become future KKLT ambassadors.
